Let’s lock in multi-partisan support!

In March 2023, the ACT government introduced a bill to Parliament to protect intersex people from medical procedures modifying their sex characteristics without their consent.

This bill follows decades of advocacy by intersex people and organisations and will serve as an example for other states and territories to follow.

The bill is likely to pass and will be the first law of its kind anywhere in Australia, taking the human rights of intersex people a huge step forward. But so far the Liberal members of the ACT parliament have not declared how they will vote.
