Equality australia

We use legal, policy and communications expertise - backed by the people power of our community - to achieve equality for LGBTIQ+ people

The Victorian Parliament is holding an inquiry into anti-LGBTIQA+ hate crimes and is inviting community members to share their experiences and perspectives.

This is an opportunity to help Members of Parliament better understand the realities of violence and hate affecting LGBTIQA+ communities, and to inform recommendations for change.

Every story contributes to a clearer picture of the challenges our communities face.

Why this inquiry matters

Sharing your story can help:

  • highlight the real impacts of hate crimes and discrimination
  • identify solutions to prevent and respond to harm
  • build support for meaningful policy change

How you can contribute

You can take part in the inquiry in several ways:

  • making a personal submission
  • sharing your story through community organisations
  • participating in surveys
  • accessing 1:1 support to prepare a submission

Submissions are open until 1 May 2026
