Promoting the well-being and rights of trans and gender diverse people across the country.

My ID = My Identity

Trans and gender diverse people in NSW and Western Australia still face cruel and unnecessary barriers to be able to update their birth certificates.

This needs to change.

Having ID that matches one’s identity is vital for the health and wellbeing of trans and gender diverse people.

Queensland was the last state to allow trans and gender diverse people to update the gender on their birth certificate without the need for surgery.

Now it's time for the rest of Australia to follow and allow for fairer laws to access identity documentation.

Check Out #TransEquality

#TransEquality was created as an arm of Equality Australia to meet the specific needs of the trans and gender diverse community. It is an initiative for trans people, by trans people, supported by allies.

It has three main parts: #TransLeading provides opportunities for trans leaders, #TransConnecting is a space for allies and #TransRights progresses our work on legal and social reform.

It's time to reclaim the narrative on trans experience and achieve genuine change.
