Prior to working with Equality Australia, Jacob spent eight years in Canberra working for progressive Labor MPs where he held various roles and worked on three federal elections including two as campaign manager.

During the postal survey, Jacob became director of the ACT campaign recording the highest ‘yes’ vote in the country. He went on to lead the creation of ‘Yes!Fest’, a now annual pride festival unique to Canberra.

Jacob is also a passionate advocate for people living with HIV. In 2020 he addressed World AIDS Day in Canberra where he spoke about his 12-year journey with HIV. In 2021 he confronted HIV stigma head-on, lending his voice to a campaign against the Mandatory Disease Testing Bill and this year he shared his story in a series of interviews for medical students at USYD, dispelling myths and stereotypes about PLHIV.

Today Jacob manages fundraising, partnerships, and development at Equality Australia.
